Alright then let it begin, this is, “The Metal Genre Iceberg”, I hope you all enjoy. But anyways, without further ado, what say you guys that we get into this new blog.
Also it’s because this chart is separated by sub genre, not individual bands. Keep in mind that some bands further down the list may seem like they belong elsewhere, as far as popularity and fanbase goes, but if you think that, don’t tell me because I probably won’t change it anyway. Me doing this blog was mostly inspired by two videos I watched recently, namely “The Heavy Metal Iceberg”, by “Quest For Metal”, as well as a video called, “The Black Metal Iceberg”, but while these two videos got deeper on the iceberg based on extremity and abrasiveness of the bands, my chart will be based solely on general popularity by sub genre. The iceberg chart will be broken into 8 sections, from top to bottom, so prepare to see much larger gaps in popularity than would be if I broke it into 69 sections or something. I will give 1 band for examples of each section of the iceberg, and I will give a brief description of the bands overall sound. Such bands as those are ones that most likely I am one of a couple dozen people who know they exist, one of the others being “inspector” because he shows me all of the cool bands nobody knows about. So today I will be constructing my own iceberg chart of some various bands I know of and enjoy, ranging from family friendly, can be enjoyed by most, and generally non offensive entry level metal bands, by the sub genre they are a part of, which I’m sure all of you know, to the very depths of the underground of metal, where you find endless aisles of selection from the most depraved, dark, dismal, and generally unpleasant to the unaccustomed ear. That idea is the concept of an iceberg chart as applied to metal bands based on how popular or obscure particular sub genres are.
